2D-1N Trip to Malacca
Note: This will be a very lengthy post I’ve ever had. Gonna add more pictures later.
It was all started last Friday after I received Iss’ message saying that our cycling plan on Saturday would be canceled. That time, I was having yamcha with Key in Putrajaya. I didn’t feel to do any assignments or projects for the entire weekend, so I wanted to escape from all that hassles. Out of a sudden, an idea popped up and I said “Let’s go to Melaka” to Key. I didn’t expect he would be serious.

[ Stesen Keretapi Seremban ]
We got off from KL to Seremban by taking KTM Komuter, roughly at 12.00PM and reached KTM Seremban at 12.40PM. We straightaway went to find a place to eat. We stopped at an Indian restaurant and had our lunch there.

After that, we went to Terminal 1 Seremban and took a shuttle bus to Terminal 2 Seremban (located not far away from Terminal 1 Seremban). We weren’t that lucky when we reached there. All bus tickets for the next 2 hours had been sold out. We went for drink at a restaurant for few minutes and then we watched a Chinese movie, Love Matters, at a nearby cinema. Key was the assistant costume designer for the movie. I knew he didn’t want to watch the movie but we didn’t have much choices that time (and I was so keen to watch the movie). Wah hahaha..! In the end, he admitted the movie was great. The movie is great and entertaining, despite the 18PL rate. We left the cinema 30 minutes early as our bus would depart at 4.30PM.
We reached Melaka Sentral at roughly 6PM and it was already raining. We took a taxi to Jonker Street. For almost 1 hour, we walked in the rain around the area just to search for hotel. Most of hotels around there had no empty hotel room . Only Baba House had an empty room. To shorten the story, Key had to stay at a different hotel in Melaka Raya. I felt very bad. He said the hotel where he stayed was lousy. For that small room, I spent RM70. I think it was the rate for peak season.

We had our dinner at a nearby restaurant, Restoran Peranakan. Not much varieties. “I want to save some space for cendol”, Key said, so he only ordered nasi goreng. Me? The foods there were too typical to me. I didn’t have much choice left. So, I ordered nasi goreng, cendol and cincau only. As usual, I couldn’t finish the fried rice, but I could finish kangkung goreng belacan. I’m not really a rice person. The fried rice and cendol were nice but kangkung goreng belacan wasn’t as exquisite as I expected.

Next, JONKER WALK! Some people call it Jonker Street. That was my second time strolling around there, first time strolling around Jonker Walk at night. I can never forget the atmosphere in Jonker Walk, especially during the night. I couldn’t help myself from not mouth-watering. The foods there were soo.. tempting. Especially the grilled squid. You can smell it from faraway. There were only 2 stalls selling grilled squid. The one shown in the picture was the famous one I think. There was a long queue just to wait and buy their BBQ squids. We bought our squids at the other stall.
Key suggested a widely-known cendol in Jonker Walk; Cendol with Durian. Key said, “You eat a lot tonite”. Yes, I noticed that. Hehe.. I couldn’t help myself. Especially the squids and cendol. The cendol isn’t a typical cendol you can get easily in KL. The best cendol ever~

Key went for drinking with his friend at a bar. I couldn’t continue walking around Jonker Walk that night, so I decided to sleep early. I turned on the TV, charged my handphone and slept right away.
On Sunday, I woke up at 7.30AM. Key called me to let me know he would arrive at Baba House at 8AM with his friend, Priscilla (correct me if I’m wrong). I was half asleep when he called me. After that, I continued sleeping for another 10 minutes before I took a bath. They reached here at around 8AM and we had our breakfast at a small Chinese-and-Indian restaurant. Key’s another friend, Jacky joined us after that. We ate, talked and laughed for 2 hours. It was like a reunion for Key. They are Key’s classmate when he was studying at a college in Melaka. I didn’t know how to butt in their conversation, so I just kept silent.

[ Baba House Hotel: Before I checked out ]
Key, Jacky and I went to Baba House to check out. Since my room was registered under Key, he settled the checkout and I took several pictures around hotel. We took our stuffs and left the hotel right away.

Next off, we went to Stadhuys Building. They dropped me there and I strolled around the place alone. Bought few things there as souvenirs. Whenever I come here, I will never miss to buy at least an ice-cream. It was blazing hot that afternoon. Key sent me a message saying that they were at a coffee shop at Dataran Pahlawan Megamall. Even though Key had explained to me how to get there, I was stil confused. So, after I finished ‘shopping’ at Stadhuys, I spent RM10 to ride a trishaw to Dataran Pahlawan Megamall from Stadhuys Building. As simple as ABC ! Haha.. From the trishaw, I managed to take several pictures around the place I passed by. The trishaw driver showed me several places and told me the story behind it.

I must admit: I never wanted to spend more than RM200 for this trip to Melaka. Unfortunately, whenever I saw Sales ads all over the place, I couldn’t restrain myself from not shopping. I spent RM100++ at Padini Concept Store. I said to myself, “This is crazy.” At Voir Gallery, most of fashion there were almost outdated. I didn’t buy anything at Voir Gallery.

The place was super crazy and unfriendly. I couldn’t find the place where Key and his friend were having drinks. I was quite pissed off with the mall. Key fetched me and we went to the other side of the mall.
There’s a Japanese -oriented store; Daiso. The shop sells a lot of Japanese stuffs. I spent RM25 at Daiso. Lalala~
Key and Jacky were at an arcade playing Time Crisis 4 when I was shopping at Daiso. They were like an attraction at the arcade. “Finish it off,” I said when I saw they were already in Stage 3. The game wasn’t really tough to play. I played once before.

I’d always wanted to ride Eye on Malaysia. When the wheel was in Titiwangsa, I didn’t go. I planned many times, but I think I wasn’t destined to ride one.
We went there in the blazing afternoon. For adult, they charged RM20. I was soo enthusiastic to ride, so I queued up. Key just accompanied me. Few minutes later, I had a second thought. I changed my mind and we walked off. Wah hahahaha.. I didn’t want to be fried like a turkey in the air-con cabin.

[ Eye on Malaysia in Melaka ]
Our bus departed at 6PM, so we had around an hour to eat at McDonald’s.
All in all, it was my first crazy trip with friends. Normally, I will travel alone because it’s very hard to plan out with friends in advance. In some sense, it is really good. But, before you can go crazy, you must make sure that you have enough money and you are not really in tight budget. It is not advisable to go for vacation in tight budget.
For this trip, I spent RM300. Key said, he spent RM350. My next trip? Brunei or Langkawi ! Haha.. I haven’t figured that out.
